Location : Campus Biotech Audience : This event is open to the public Categories : Conference, GHF event |
Join us for an interactive discussion about the future of global health initiatives. This discussion aims to raise awareness about an ongoing study, Reimagining the Future of Global Health Initiatives, which is part of the wider Future of Global Health Initiatives process.
The Future of Global Health Initiatives is a time-bound (through 2023) multi-stakeholder process of dialogue, deliberation and action to identify and enable options for global health initiatives (GHIs) to more effectively, efficiently and equitably complement domestic financing to maximize country-level health impacts, as part of country-led priority-setting processes and trajectories toward universal health coverage (UHC).
The University of Geneva’s Centre of Humanitarian Studies is leading a five-university consortium, funded by Wellcome Trust, to generate research and evidence to underpin the process.
The study aims to:
- 1. Outline a vision of what the GHI ecosystem should seek to achieve over the next 15-20 years to strengthen health system capacities and deliver health impacts
- 2. Analye the extent to which GHIs’ current mandates and ways of working will need to evolve to enable them to effectively, efficiently and equitably deliver this vision, and the contextual factors that would support or hinder such a shift
- 3. Provide recommendations on how and when the GHIs’ current mandates and ways of working should evolve
This WHA side-event provides an opportunity for global health stakeholders to be briefed on the preliminary research findings, to hear the perspective of Ministers of Health, global health organizations and civil society and to share their reflections on how the global health ecosystem might be optimized to support countries’ trajectories toward universal health coverage. An open on-line anonymous survey to collect more detailed input will also be shared.
A continental breakfast will be served.
As seating is limited, please reserve early.
This event is being co-hosted by the Future of Global Health Initiatives, the Geneva Health Forum, and the Geneva Centre of Humanitarian Studies (University of Geneva)
